It’s 2013 and things are changing my friends.  I have a wonderful new vampire/supernatural romance novel coming out with Soul Mate Publishing and it’s all about Max, Vampire David Hilliard’s father.  Keep your eye on Nights of Passion to watch for the launch.

My other publisher Tease Publishing is closing and has taken down all the links to all the books.  So for a while the Vampires of Manhattan series, Mrs. Bright’s Tea Room, and Poseidon’s Catch will be inaccessible.  I will try not to let that be too long.  I am happy for the winners of the ebooks in Kindle format at Christmas.  You received quite a prize.

I will try to maintain my cheer and think about Max and his champagne baths.  LOL

Below is history.

In the coming year, I’m focusing more on my vampire series again, but for the fun of it I wrote a steampunk romance called Mrs. Bright’s Tea Room.  It came out on Dec. 15, 2010.  It’s four flames and here’s the description.

The sky above Alternate Victorian London is filled with dirigibles, one being the notorious lavender brothel–Mrs. Bright’s Tea Room.

Euthalia has no choice but to work for Mrs. Bright.

In walks handsome Airship Captain Travers, the Queen’s spy.

Sparks aren’t the only things flying with Travers, Euthalia’s first customer.
On August 15, 2010, my contemporary mythology romance Poseidon’s Catch came out.

Blurb:
Sexy Poseidon aches for eternal love.

Mila would be content to taste love once however fleeting.

When Poseidon meets Mila, a passion ignites in him that he’s never known but she is burdened by a secret.

Can Poseidon save the woman he loves before the sands of time run out?

Welcome to the Vampires of Manhattan Series.

On July 15, 2010  The fourth in the series Vampire in the Basement came out.  It follows Gregor and Regina from New York to their wedding in Maine with his family and introduces his divorced brokenhearted shapeshifter bunny sister Lorraine.  We also meet the handsome but tortured vampire and Arnhem Knight Theo.

Blurb:
A broken heart can never heal. That’s what Lorraine believes until this shapeshifter who keeps forgetting her clothes meets Theo.

Tall, blond, and handsome Theo, ‬vampire and‭ ‬Arnhem Knight,‭ assists supernaturals in need but when he meets Lorraine, he needs her in everyway. It’s more than desire. He wants her heart.

A VAMPIRE FOR CHRISTMAS debuted December 1, 2009. It features Trevor Stenwood (a vampire and Arnhem Knight) and Georgia Blake (a Harmony).  Georgia’s a very different kind of supernatural, a human with a rare gift.  Demons have marked her for death and it’s Trevor’s job to save her, but is he saving her for all mankind or for himself?  The instant he saw her, he knew.

David Hilliard and Laura Cordelais play an important role in this story too, so watch for them.

A VAMPIRE FOR CHRISTMAS. A heart warming tale about a tongue-tied vampire’s search for true love. A story about courage in the face of death, the coming together of friends and family, and an eternal gift.

Excerpt:

When the waiter arrived with menus, Georgia was dizzy with expectation.  She looked at her menu.  There were no prices and it was hard to choose from so many delicious sounding meals.

“What are you having?”  She leaned toward Trevor.

“I was going to start with the lobster bisque and move on to the shrimp scampi.”

“That sounds good.  I’ll have the same.”

When the waiter returned, Trevor gave him the orders.  He waited until the man was out of hearing range.

“Georgia, you know you could have ordered anything.”

“I know.”  She gazed out the window.  Snow danced over the waves.  Then snowflake and wave would touch as in a kiss and the snow would be gone forever, absorbed into the water.

“May I move my seat so I can sit next to you?”

She thought about saying no, but the truth was she was ready for him to be closer.  “Okay.”

He moved the chair so he was exactly next to her and they could see the same thing out the window.  “It’s sad, isn’t it?”

“What?”

“The snowflake is so exquisite, but its life is so short.  The ocean is eternal.  It loves the snowflake and when they meet.  .  .”

“The snowflake dies.”  Georgia sighed.

“No, not at all.  The snowflake changes into water and becomes immortal.”

Georgia turned to face him.  They were so very close, his mouth above her lips, his eyes gazing deeply into hers.  She could feel him searching for some answer.  Then his lips possessed her mouth so gently, sweetly, as if to caress.  Georgia felt herself melting like the snowflake touching the ocean wave.  She kissed him back.  Every kiss led to another.  She felt his arm steady her.  Her eyes were closed, as his finger brushed her cheek.

On November 15, 2009, my debut full-length novel, a vampire romance, THE STORMY LOVE LIFE OF LAURA CORDELAIS, came out.

You met Gregor and Regina’s friend, the vampire David Hilliard, in WHEN LOVE SURVIVES.

THE STORMY LOVE LIFE OF LAURA CORDELAIS is the story of David meeting and trying to win the love of a tormented woman, Laura Cordelais. Laura possesses an extraordinary gift among supernaturals, a power that others envy and will do anything to possess. I think you see the problem.

If you love vampires, you’ll love Laura and David’s passionate love affair and their struggle to stay together against amazing odds. Their travels span New York, New Orleans, and places in your worst nightmares.

Excerpt:
Laura struggled through the dark and burst through a great light.  She gasped for breath and it filled her.  Warmth spread through her every part, then a surge of energy she didn’t understand.  Her heart beat.  Differently.  Odd.  Different from any feeling she’d ever had.  Her eyelashes fluttered and then in the dim light of a strange windowless room, she saw a man’s face.

His dark, curly hair framed his chiseled features.  What struck her most were his dark, fathomless eyes. I can get lost in those eyes and never want to leave.

He smiled.

She flushed.  I hope he can’t hear what I’m thinking.

I can.

She sat up, smiling with embarrassment.  “You pulled me out of the river?”

“Yes.”

“Thank you.”  Laura trembled.  “I don’t understand.  I was dying.”

“You were very badly injured in the fall.  I was going to take you to the hospital, but you said, ‘No hospital.’  That you’d keep trying to kill yourself.”  His jaw tightened.  “I couldn’t bear the idea of your death.  Please, forgive me, but I couldn’t let you die.”  He gazed deeply into her eyes.

Laura moved her tongue inside her mouth and came across the fangs.

“Oh, my God!”  She tried to sit up, but he pushed her gently down.

“Don’t get up just yet.  You’re still healing.”

“You made me a vampire?”  Every tale she’d heard as a child in New Orleans rushed back to her.  Vampires were monsters.  “Now I’m a monster!”  Anger flushed through her.  How dare he make her this!  He had no right.  She seethed.

“No.  You are not a monster.  Neither am I.  I gave you a life.  It’s your choice how you live it.”

Then another emotion unexpectedly filled her, when she gazed up into his eyes.  I couldn’t bear the idea of your death. His tender words echoed in her entire being and soothed her broken heart, as if he’d kissed her lips without touching her.  She looked at him with wonder, reached up and caressed the young beard on his chin.  He smiled and she could see his fangs now.  Strangely, she wasn’t frightened.

“We must do the last part.”   He bit into his arm just inside the elbow and put it against her mouth.

“No.”  She pushed his arm away.

“You need it to stop the hunger from possessing you.  Just close your eyes and drink.”

The blood oozed into her mouth, as he pressed his arm against her lips.  At first, she choked and sputtered but then finally accepted it.  Laura tried not to think about what it really was.  The warmth reminded her of ginger tea with a citrus tang.

“Since I am your sire, my blood will give you a balanced mind.  You will not need to feed again until tonight.”

After a few more minutes, she pushed him away.  The wound on his arm healed before her eyes.  Wide-eyed, she smiled.  “I feel so strong and well.  I don’t ache or hurt anywhere.”  Then his reference to being her sire struck her.  “So you own me now!”  Her anger flared again along with her strength.  She slapped him.

“What was that for?”  He held his hand to his cheek.

“Oh, I don’t know.  You made me a vampire and now you own me.  Take your pick.”

David gazed upward.  “This isn’t going well.”

“Who are you talking to?”

“God.”

Laura scoffed.  “A vampire talks to God?  Does God answer you?”

David frowned at her and sighed.  ”God apparently has one hell of a sense of humor.”

“What does that mean?”

“Never mind.  Let’s get back to the subject at hand.  No, I do not own you.  I have no claim on you whatsoever.  You are free to decide where you want to be and with whom.  I’ll help you get started, that’s all.”  With every word, he seemed more uncomfortable.  “We do have a blood tie though, so if you ever need my help, just think of me and I’ll come.  I’ll find you.”

Her anger dissipated.  Laura enjoyed seeing him vulnerable.  And he didn’t hit her back.  She smiled.  “I don’t know your name.”

“I’m David Hilliard.”

This time she gently touched his face.  “I’m Laura Cordelais.”

He held her hand to his cheek and closed his eyes.

Laura gasped as she realized her surroundings.  “Do you live here?”

“No.”  He chuckled.  “I just needed to get you out of the sun.  I have an apartment.”

“Well, that’s a relief.  I thought I’d have to live in a cemetery.”

They both laughed.

Laura looked around at the grim tomb.  A spider crawled up the stone wall nearest her, and she trembled.  “I’m afraid of small, closed spaces.  And bugs.”

He enclosed her in his arms.  “Don’t be afraid.  As soon as it’s dark, we’ll leave.”

Her mouth was so close to his, she could almost taste him.  Then he pressed his firm lips against hers.

Hmm.  He tastes of honey.  I love honey.

Their fangs knocked together.  Laura giggled nervously.

“Shall we try that again?” he suggested.

She nodded.

David gently took her chin and tilted her head slightly.  Then his lips possessed hers again.  Laura tingled from head to toe and wondered if a vampire was capable of love.  She hoped David was.

When their lips parted, Laura frowned.

“I’m still angry with you.”

“Really?  You don’t sound that angry.”

“I’m furious with you.  I mean you made me a vampire.”

“Are you furious?”  He carefully pushed a hair off her face and kissed her forehead.

“Now that’s not fair.  Are you using your hypnotic powers on me?”

“No.  I want everything between us to be real.”  He kissed her left temple and moved down her jaw line.  His mouth caressed her lips.  His tongue rubbed her fangs.

More books are underway. I’m busy writing right this very moment.

For Halloween 2009, I guest blogged on Hannah Howell’s blog. Here it is in case you missed it: http://hhowellauthor.blogspot.com/2009/10/halloween-time-guest-blogger-author.html

In March, I celebrated being married for 30 years.   I asked my husband to only getSusan2 me a card for Valentine’s Day, and he gave me a day early a card and a heart-shaped box of candy.  I gave the same to him.  I don’t know what that says about us.

I’ve been writing since I was eight and was first published when I was 16.  Though I’ve been having a great time in science fiction and fantasy for the past several years, (You can see more about the scfi part of me by visiting www.susanhannifordcrowley.com .)  a friend of mine recognized my romantic nature and recommended that I begin writing romance.  I’m having the time of the my life.   I’ve meet several romances authors and have to say that they are truly gracious and inspiring ladies.

If you’re also into writing, you can visit the site above for the free weekly creative writing exercises.  I also have a blog where I generally talk about what inspires me and writing adventures in general.  It’s called The Writing House and it’s at http://thewritinghouse.blogspot.com/

I’m a member of SFWA (Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers of America) and the RWA (Romance Writers of America), and I’m also a part-time webmaster.  Frankly, I’m on the web a lot.  Sometimes you’ll find me at Twitter.  Look for onlyladyknight there and join the discussion.  I can’t promise I’m always there, but I do catch up.  That’s all I’m going to say for now.  We’ll talk again.

Lately I’ve been living my life at light speed, writing, submitting manuscripts, editing, and webmastering.  For my down time, I sometimes create jewelry.

Events close to my heart are conventions.  This coming year, I will be at Connecticut Fiction Fest (as an attendee only) and Albacon (Albany’s science fiction and fantasy convention) on October 9-11. This year, Friday at Albacon will be Romantic Friday featuring romance writers.  I hope you will join us.

Then I’ll write during the coming winter and celebrate on Martin Luther King weekend the largest science fiction and fantasy convention in the Northeast–Arisia.  Arisia (in January) in Boston is my home convention.  I love hanging there with friends.  Last year, I moderated a full room debate between werewolves and vampires.  It was outrageous fun.  When the debate was over, some werewolves declared themselves the victor.  A young vampire summed it all up nicely, “We’ll simply outlive you.”  Leave it to a vamp to look on the sunny side of things.

A romance writer has asked that on Nights of Passion, I do a Celebrate the Werewolf weekend.  They find werewolves like Jacob of Twilight irresistible.  I’m working on it.

If you’re a writer of romance or fiction with definite romantic elements and would like to be interviewed on Nights of Passion, please, read our policy on the About Nights of Passion page and then email me at onlyladyknight@yahoo.com.  Put Nights of Passion interview request in the subject line or it will go to my spam folder and be lost.
