Life Tools: Getting Ready for Mother’s Day

Happy Mother’s Day!

On Nights of Passion this week, Toni Kelly wrote about her niece at https://nightsofpassion.wordpress.com/2023/05/10/angel-of-light-and-courage/ It’s a very moving article. I cried.

Today, I am talking about Mother’s Day which falls on Sunday, May 14th, 2023. It’s tomorrow. Many people are running out to buy balloons, candy, cards, and/or some appropriate gift the honored mother would enjoy. Mother’s Day includes Grandmothers. It can include anyone that “mothers” someone else.

Some families have their traditions. Some serve the mother breakfast in bed. Others take her out for dinner.

Other types of mothers are also honored such as Cat Moms (a human who loves and cares for a cat), Dog Moms, etc.

Regardless of whom you celebrate, pause, and consider what that special mom would enjoy.
1. A family event
2. Tickets for two (or more) to a concert
3. A book by her favorite author (check to make sure she doesn’t already have it)
4. Jewelry
5. A photo album filled with family photos but with space for more
6. Equipment for her hobby (a new sewing kit, a shell collector’s book, a new baseball mitt, etc.)
7. A paid-for trip for two to a place she would like to see.
8. Movie night with the family. The movie is her choice.

If you’ve lost your mother, perhaps do something to remember her.

For me, the best gift is sharing time with my family. I love hearing what they have to say about everything.

Your tradition is yours. If you don’t have a custom, you can create one.

Enjoy the day tomorrow with the people who love you.

Truly,

Susan
