This Writing Tool can also be used as a writing prompt. The bottom line is to let your surroundings inspire your writing. Fill your writing with sensory imagery.
- Notice the details. Examples: The raindrop impressions on the water, her red umbrella, and the city lights reflecting in a fuzzy way.
- Imagine the sounds. Cars passing. The drip-drop of the rain. The sloshing sound of water against the rocks.
- What scents fill the air? Saltwater? Maybe mixed fragrances of fried food from a fast food place?
- How does she feel? Wet? Sad and lonely? Happy and feeling free? Planning where to go next?
- Will she pick up a rock? Is the footing slippery? Don’t forget to add “touch.”
You are not tied to using this picture for your inspiration. Look through a photo album, or window, or visit someplace that inspires you. Take a lot of photos for later.
Stay safe and warm. Spring approaches but a lot of places are still cold.
