I Am Thankful

I may have mentioned this before, but Thanksgiving is my favorite time of year. It is a time of year that always brings about feelings of generosity in even the most unsuspecting places. I’ve often wondered why it is so hard to replicate these feelings more often throughout the year. I have seen people be generous but nothing that calls a whole nation forward to give thanks.

These past two years have been unusual to say the least. For many, they may not feel like they have much to be thankful for. We’ve seen and felt quite a bit of sadness—friends and/or family who have fallen sick or perhaps passed on, time away from those we love and in many ways the feeling that life has escaped us or perhaps we were cheated.

I’m not going to say that none of the sadness and hurt mattered because it did and still does. But I am an optimist and no matter how hard life can get, I try to look for the silver lining. I need to because that is what pushes me forward. It is our hope that gives us strength and for that I am grateful.

Thank you for sharing this time of year with me and I wish you all a wonderful Thanksgiving with your families. Thank you too to our veterans and soldiers who give so much to protect us. And last but not least, thank you to our doctors, nurses, medical pers and scientists who have worked so diligently over the past year to save so many lives.

Happy writing this week!
