10 Fun Halloween Movies for the Family by Susan Hanniford Crowley

United Artists Releasing

I love this time of the year with all the movies out there for kids. I’m going to list my ten favorites.

  1. I found The Addams Family cartoon movie released in 2019 to be fun and more true to the Charles Addams cartoons that I grew up reading. It is recommended for 7 and up.
  2. My second favorite is Hocus Pocus. It is truly enchanting and has become a family tradition to watch every year. It might be scary for little kids. It’s recommended for 10 and above.
  3. Pooh’s Heffalump Halloween Movie is a Winnie Pooh and friends adventure that is sure to delight for smaller children. It is recommended for kids 3 and above.
  4. Super Monsters Save Halloween is made for kids 4+ and is fun making the traditional monsters more fun and not really scary.  It is only a half hour long.
  5. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve seen Curious George: A Halloween Boo Fest. If your kids or grandkids are Curious George fans, they will love this. It is recommended for ages 3-101.
  6. I personally am a huge fan of Wallace and Gromit, so I’ve made it a tradition to see Wallace & Gromit: The Curse of the Were-Rabbit.  It’s recommended for 7+ ages.
  7. Another favorite is Halloweentown starring Debbie Reynolds as the wise and wonderful grandmother who happens to be a witch.  For ages 7+.
  8. Every year I watch It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown based on the Peanuts comic strip by Charles M. Schulz. It’s for ages 6+.
  9. David Bowie was the perfect Goblin King in Labyrinth. Jim Henson’s puppet creatures fills this enchanting world. It’s recommended for ages 8+.
  10. Even though there may be more that should be on this list, I’ve chose Kiki’s Delivery Service animated by Studio Ghibli. It proves what a Good Witch can do. It is recommended for 5 and up.

That’s my list. If you would like to add some for our readers, please, put your movie choice in the commend box.

Please, be safe for Halloween and always.
