Let’s Keep In Touch by Stacy Hoff

Recently I went to a writers’ conference. Many of the classes at this two-day event focused on book promotion. I agree that promoting books is a necessary evil for any author. (Most authors just want to write novels all day long.) The speakers said that newsletters are an author’s most effective promotional tool. The rationale is that newsletters give authors the ability to:

  • directly communicate with readers when new releases come out.
  • not be at the mercy of social media platforms.
  • have sufficient space to give readers what they want: book excerpts, bonus material, teasers, etc.

I am new to newsletters, but I agree. I have sent out two newsletters so far to my readers. I will keep reaching out by sending them more. I send, however, only when I have major news, like a contest win, a book signing event, or when a new release comes out. No more than four newsletters will go out a year. I don’t want anyone to feel spammed.

Most importantly, I hope you will become one of my subscribers! My last blog post on Nights of Passion will be Friday, November 16th. I hope my newsletter will be our way of staying in touch. So here’s the link:
