The crisp, autumn weather started this past weekend and admittedly, it feels wonderful. The leaves are changing and chimneys have started. I even had the heat turn on automatically this weekend as we dipped into the 30s.
One thing I will say that I love about the changing of seasons is that sense of change. We can sometimes get so caught up in the routine that a little bit of change does us good. If anything, I believe sometimes we crave changes. Ever heard of mid-life crisis? Or even on a small scale, you just feel that need for a new hairstyle or new clothes. We go through this whole sense of renewal and change as we start each year and come up with new resolutions.
I can’t explain why change feels good at times to me. I know this isn’t the case for everyone. For instance, change is constant in the workplace but if anything, it seems to create more nerves than comfort. I personally believe that change (in moderation) is something we should be open to. Many times, whether we want it to or not, it comes out way. We don’t need to embrace every part of it, but it is important to keep an open mind as to the good things that change can bring with it. Most of the time, we tend to focus on the negative or what worries us most. That’s because we believe we can forsee that whereas the good parts are easier to see in hindsight.
So as autumn embraces you, think of something you are looking forward to in the coming months.
Happy writing this week and don’t forget next week is Halloween, yay!
