Okay, so flying this year wasn’t as bad as flying last year. Most notably because my first flight wasn’t late, causing me to miss the second one and having to pull an all nighter in the airport just to make sure I got on the second plane on time. It was pretty smooth sailing this time all around 😀
Here are some pics of the hotel where the convention is being held, and the tower itself. It’s lit up with a big letter T :3
I’m still pretty much exhausted, and though it seems incredibly likely (Guaranteed) that I’ll be getting no work done tonight aside from this blog post, at least I can say that I’ve got a little over a hundred pages read of Afterworlds, and holy God, I’m so happy that Scott Westerfeld is going to be here. I wish I’d brought the Uglies series with me, but at least this one is a hardcover and I cannot wait to get it signed.
Tomorrow is the writers bootcamp to start off with, and though I wouldn’t call myself a beginner, more of a lucky intermediate since I can pay my bills on what I write, it sounds like something I’d super love to check out, especially since I missed the first pre convention day.
But again, also all right. My first day in New Orleans, I walked around a lot, searching for shops and getting a bunch of cool things to bring back for the family. My bro has a hankering for something spicy, and this is Texas, so there’s bound to be some cool stuff here.
Aside from all of that, I can’t even begin to describe how excited I am for all the cool talks and booksales and book signings I’m going to get to see. I’ll have to search out The lovely lady in charge of this blog and see if she’s here as well 🙂 Even though I’m exhausted I have no idea how I’m going to sleep, and it was the same way last night when I was up until almost three in the morning, thinking about the plane rides, getting here, going to see so many cool authors that I’ve been so looking forward to seeing.
Ugh, pleasure overload.
Anyway! I’m rambling, so I’m going to end it here and try to get some shut eye without examining the books I brought for author signatures one more time :3
