It’s My Birthday and I’ll Party If I Want To By Susan Hanniford Crowley

Giggles.  Today I am celebrating my birthday.  On the table, there is cyber three layer chocolate cake.  It’s more like a torte.  There’s also an assortment of deserts including cheesecake and a Boston Creme Pie.

Need real cyber food?   There’s shrimp cocktail, chilled crab claws, chilled lobster, lobster bisque, and grilled shrimp.  For the non-seafood folks there is prime rib, grilled chicken and chicken parmasan, steamed vegetables and tempura of every kind.

A band comes in and sets up.  Going over to them, I ask, “Pardon, who are you?”

The band leader answers, “We’re Crypt 20.  We’ve been hired by King Max to make sure this party swings until dawn.”

“Ok.”  What else could I say!  I welcome the guests as they arrive.

Laura and David come over to me.  Laura hands me a platter of Jello shots which I but on the bar with the bar tender.  They each hug me, then David hands me a package.  Then David hands me a package.  “This is from Max. He will be coming later on.”

I open the package and there is a leather journal and a little vial.

“That’s for your writing, and that’s a vial of his saliva.  It got back to him that you are dangerously allergic to penicillin, and have been ill for weeks.  He wishes you to recover as you are important to him and all the Arnhem Knights.  His exact words were, “Please, just drink it, Lily. It has a short shelf life.”  (The supernatural community refer to me as Lily Snow.)

I usually avoid this, but I’ve been feeling so horrible. I drank it down and found it warming my body all over.  WOW!  My energy level just rose about 200 percent as well.

“I’d like to thank, Max.”

“You look brighter already,” Laura said.

Then I noticed some werewolves were arriving and putting out flower arrangements.  I didn’t order this.

Regina and Gregor, my favorite half leprechaun and half elf and her favorite shapeshifter have arrived.  “I hope you don’t mind, Lily.  Regina and I thought it would enliven the party.

The flowers are all tropicals and were flown in for the occasion.  It’s not
every day when our Lily has a birthday.  Happy Birthday and many more!”

Just when I least expect it, George and Trevor  come in with a
crowd after them.  They brought a chocolate fountain and had help to
set it up on a table.

The gift table is really piling up and
I’m practicing restraint to not open
them yet.

The music is really rocking.  I always find
it remarkable that the humans in the
party don’t realize the supernaturals
that are here.  Of course, you who are
reading this will.  The vampires are
are being careful not to reveal their
fangs.

Welcome to my birthday party.  Come on it.  We are having a contest here
and a contest at The Romance Studio too.  For the contest here which will
end at Midnight tonight Eastern time, all you have to do is say “I love Vampires,” in the comment box to be eligible.  The winner will have their choice of one book from the formats listed.  Contest is void where prohibited by law.  Good luck, everyone!

Max walks into the room.  Evelyn goes to talk to her sister.  He walks directly up to me and says, “Lily, may I have this dance?”

How cool is this!  I’m dancing with a king!

    • Thank you, Mary. At this moment, I’m proofreading Vampire King of New York again to prepare for print. I will be putting Vampire in the Basement back up this spring. I’m also writing the story of King Max’s daughter Noblesse. I’m glad you asked.

  2. Happy Birthday! Love all the books, but I have to admit to having a secret reader crush on Max (blush).

  3. Am I the first person to say: I love vampires. Well, female ones. 🙂 More important: I love vampires who celebrate Sue’s birtyhday!

  4. malanouette says:
