December 19th. Only six days until Christmas! We have had two good size snow storms here in Connecticut, both of which have completely thrown a monkey wrench into my plans. What plans? Well, I still have gifts to buy, cookies to bake and groceries to get for our holiday feast. I can’t even go to the market tonight because it’s my work Christmas Party. Yikes! I’m running out of time. I’m usually the person who starts my shopping in July and is done by Halloween. I’m the person who always has the time to bake, make ornaments and spent time to make my gift wrap look like it belongs in a Martha Stewart magazine.
Why is this year so different? Firstly, this year I have been out and about doing book signings. I enjoy every part of having a writing career, even the editing. But I have to say that meeting readers and signing books is the most fun part of being an author. No complaints. I love it and I look forward to doing a lot more of this. Secondly, and probably more importantly, is the fact that I spend every spare moment I can with my Grand-Daughter. She’s 16 months old and walks, more like runs, and talks a blue streak! She’s so much fun and Memé doesn’t want to miss one single moment. Again, no complaints and I look forward to spending a lot more time with my sweet little grand baby!
What does this mean for me? It means that next year I’m going to have to become a better planner! Yikes! I am not a plotter! This might mean that I just might have to start shopping in May. Hmm, what a coincidence. It just so happens that I will be in New Orleans in May, and perhaps I could pick up a few gifts there. What a wonderful idea! Hey, this sounds an aweful lot like planning. Maybe I could become a planner/plotter. But we all know the best laid plans of mice and men often go right out the window, and I think we all know that I will become involved in things just as I did this past year. Hopefully it won’t be six days before Christmas with me still needing to bake, shop, wrap, and decorate! Not to mention that I have no idea what I will wear to the Christmas Party and what the heck did I do with the grocery list?
And so, my dear friends, since I won’t be here with you again until December 26th I would like to take this opportunity to thank each and every one of you for visiting us here at Nights of Passion over this past year, and I would like to wish you a very Merry Christmas.
Now, my question to you is . . . Do you start shopping early or are you the person who will brave the mall on Christmas Eve?
