Last weekend, I attended the highly anticipated Fiction Fest, run by my local RWA group. I taught a workshop called, “Please, Sir, May I Have Some More? Hooking the 50 Shades Readers Into Your Series.” It was so much fun! And I want to share all the information about writing an erotic series here for you. I just got back from the trip though so I need some time. Next week, I’ll have my whole workshop written out here.
But today I’ll share some pictures from the event and do a brief summary.
The keynote was Roxanne Saint Claire and she talked about the tides of change in the publishing industry. This was extremely empowering because she talked about how the control is in our hands as writers and left us with a message of hope.
I went to a workshop on pitching to agents with a friend and helped her as she prepared to pitch her manuscript to one of several editors there. During lunch we heard from those agents/editors as they answered some difficult questions about writers, their jobs, and publishing in general.
In the afternoon, I did my workshop then mingled with authors/writers at the cocktail hour. I heard great things about all the presenters and workshops. Overall, it was a fabulous time!
Come back next Tuesday to read my post about writing to market, creating an experience, and selling your experience!
