What writers have inspired you?
J.R.R. Tolkein, first and foremost. I first read The Lord of the Rings when I was 13 and then devoured the sci fi/fantasy sections of the local library and bookstores. Early influences were Ursula LeGuin, Mercedes Lackey, Anne McCaffrey, David Eddings, Elizabeth Moon, and others. Later, I started reading romances and then found ebooks.
A love of the genre and an annoyance with the fact that there were so few romance books with good sci fi or fantasy plots. I wanted both sci fi/fantasy and romance together. I still do. Paranormal has taken over in recent years, which is great, but I love a good, sweeping space opera where the romance is out in the open, or an epic fantasy where magic and mayhem are in equal measure with romance and derring-do.
Early on, I loved series romances. To this day, some of my comfort reads are still the old Rachel Lee Conard County series, Diana Palmer, Merline Lovelace‘s Code Name: Danger series, and Suzanne Brockman’s Seals. When I was a commuter, the series books were the perfect length for my train ride and not too heavy to carry around. Once I discovered ebooks, I didn’t have to worry about the weight or size of the books anymore and found a bunch of authors I loved, including Angela Knight, Lora Leigh, and a whole bunch of others. I’ve gone ebook in a big way and seldom buy paperbacks anymore. I just don’t have the space to store paper books, but I have lots of memory space on my computer for ebooks!
My website is a work in progress. I tinker with it all the time. I like to play with
graphics, so I end up doing a lot with the themes of the various pages. Right now, I have a main site with a castle gate theme which acts as the gateway to the other parts of the site. There is a paranormal section which is further broken down into Vampire Tales and Tales of the Were. As a matter of fact, I just completed the ebook release of a trilogy of vampire novellas that will go into print early next year in a single print volume called Brotherhood of Blood. The individual stories are One & Only, Rare Vintage and Phantom Desires. On the were side, the long-awaited sequel to Lords of the Were will be coming out this June. It’s called Inferno and will feature the vampire, Dante d’Angleterre and a lone werewolf girl who is sent to spy on him. Mayhem ensues and of course they end up Happily Ever After.
On the sci fi side of things, I have a book called Jaci’s Experiment that
is scheduled to release in print at the end of June. It is the third in an ongoing, 5-book series called Resonance Mates. The fourth book, Grady’s Awakening, will release in ebook sometime later this year. The entire series is set in a post-apocalyptic future where aliens have taken over a decimated Earth. Only a few humans survive in the wild places and it’s up to them to teach the aliens about what it means to be human, and what it means to love.
And finally, my Dragon Knights fantasy series has another separate section on my website. FireDrake came out in print recently and the next book in the series will hopefully be out later this year. I’m writing it now, in fact. It’s a dimension-travel sort of book where two dragon shape-shifters come to our world for a time to find the special, magical woman who will help them defeat their enemies back in their world.
I blush to think of them! I write both romance and erotic romance, so some of the love scenes get pretty kinky. I’ve written a number of menage scenes and in fact, there’s one in Inferno, that is probably the kinkiest of those I’ve written.
Tell us about any upcoming releases.
My next release is Inferno in June. That will be an ebook release, then the book
will release again in print sometime next year. Jaci’s Experiment, which is already available in ebook, will release in print on June 30th. I’m expecting the next Resonance Mates book to release next, sometime in late Summer and then a new Dragon Knights book will probably come out later this year. I keep a busy schedule but with three series in full swing, I need to stay on top of things and I hate making readers wait too long for new books. Luckily, I write really fast.
Bianca, please, tell us a little about yourself and your background.
